This course is a fantastic
introduction to the sport of rock climbing for
the
student with a serious interest in pursuing a future
in rock climbing. The focus of the course is to
lay a solid foundation and understanding of top
rope and lead climbing techniques.
The class includes a copy of A
Guide to Rock Climbing in Northern Thailand.
A 1 meter length of 6mm rock climbing
rope is also included so that the student can practice
techniques and knot tying, and don't forget your
FREE T-SHIRT!!!
The class is run over a 4-day period with the option
for a rest day between the 2nd and 3rd day.
Skills discussed in this course will parallel those
learned in Introduction to Top Rope Rock Climbing
and Intermediate Top Rope Rock Climbing, and Introduction
to Lead Climbing. There
will also be a discussion in rappelling
techniques, building safe rock climbing anchor
systems,
advanced rock climbing knots, and increased rock
climbing safety awareness.
The first day of the course will serve as an introduction
to the basics of rock climbing and its equipment.
The focus of the first day will be to ensure that
the student has a strong introduction to rock climbing
safety and belaying. The second day will introduce
the student to more advanced tasks involved in
top rope climbing with a specific focus on cleaning
a route and threading an anchor. The third day
will introduce the
student to the exhilarating experience of lead
rock climbing in which climbers must place protection
as they climb.
The 3 Day course will lay the foundation for
safe top rope and lead climbing and enable aspiring
climbers to build more advanced skills through
further instruction and experience.
Our 3-day introductory course
was designed to give the beginning rock climber a comprehensive
foundation of elementary skills.
