Transportation to the Crag

Crazy Horse is about 35km outside of the city, but don't let that stop you! There are a number of easy, fun, and social ways to get out to the crag, but even if you have your own transport, stop by the shop for directions or to find a partner!

The CMRCA Transport Service

More than a thousand climbers a year agree - our transport service is the best way to get to and from the crag! Pile into the back of a red truck with a diverse, international crew of climbers, and share beta and stories during the forty minute trip. The red trucks leave the shop in the morning at 8:45, and leave the crag at 16:45, so you can get in a full day of cranking. But what makes this everybody's favorite option is the satisfying, delicious lunch that you order in the morning and is delivered to the crag. Or maybe it's the opportunity to meet Loung Nan and support local business.

The transport service is 250 Baht per day, which includes lunch. We also have 5- and 10-day punch cards available, or a separate transportation membership for those of you who are in Chiang Mai for a little while. The truck will make a short stop on the way to the Crazy Horse so you can pick up some snacks or fruit, and again on the way back in case you want a cold beer. We require that you come to our shop the day before if you'd like to reserve a spot in a truck; please read our transport policy for more information.

Private Taxi

If you have a group, operate on a weird schedule, or just don't like sharing with others, we can arrange for a private red truck or air-conditioned car, jeep, or minivan for you. Prices will vary depending on how you roll, from 1500 Baht and up, including lunch.

Motorbike or Car Rental

Many climbers think that the freedom to come and go as they please is worth getting a few bugs in their teeth, and we have a few friends who swear by taking a motorbike out to the crag. There are hundreds of places in town that will rent you a motorbike (120-250 Baht/day) or a car (900 Baht/day and up), but feel free to stop by the shop to ask for directions to the crag or a recommendation on a dealer.
