In September of 2009, I chose to host a two-day gathering for my senior management team in Chiang Mai. We were large group of close to 70 people with extremely diverse backgrounds from all over the globe. We wanted to devote one day to team building activities that would challenge us both mentally and physically by taking us out of our comfort zones. I also hoped that by experiencing a unique environment together, outside the office, this would foster greater cohesion amongst us. I must say that I was a bit skeptical of the outcome given that we were a tough-to-please group of hardened bankers!
I think it’s fair to say that the Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures (‘CMRCA’) team massively exceeded our expectations. CMRCA was highly engaged from the very beginning in understanding our objectives and, in the end, delivering a tailor made experience. The day was executed perfectly from the moment the facilitators arrived to the final activity. I think the experience changed the dynamics of the group and facilitated greater and a deeper dialogue during remainder of our time in Chiang Mai.
Well done CMRCA! I look forward to seeing whether you can come up with something even better at our next gathering!
