The team has just found themselves marooned in the jungle.  Your first challenge is to erect their tents for safe lodging for the following days. All the members of the team have different abilities including use of speech, sight and body in order to create a system of communication which enables the successful construction of the tent. Concepts learned in this activity will help the team become more successful in challenging issues that follow.

With light waning fast and limited resources, teams must work in tandem to build strong and resilient shelters.  Draw on your powers of memory and innovation and challenge your ability to work together with your team in this complex, dramatic initiative. Speed, efficiency, and attention to detail are essential -- but only constant, dynamic communication can ensure a shared win for the entire organization.

Next, using bamboo and fire, participants must carve plates, bowls and utensils, prepare and cook an entire dinner as a team. Success is determined by the flavor of the food. This serves as an excellent precursor to helping the team develop strong trust and communication for difficult challenges ahead. CMRCA will customize activities to be representative of your organization’s products and services. Group consensus and planning tools will be presented throughout the program.

Shelter from the Storm provides an excellent framework for working through difficult issues. It translates to challenges that arise when communication occurs in multiple languages through multiple departments and helps teams develop systems to apply to the workplace.
