Top Site Managed Self Rescue

Learn how to deal with the unexpected when climbing in top site managed terrain.

You hope it doesn’t happen to you but if it does…  It’s best to be prepared.  Take a top managed self rescue course and be ready for incidents that happen when climbing at a top managed climbing site.  Who knows you just might save somebody’s life.

This course is essential for any serious climber. The key to safe climbing is risk management. Understanding the risks associated with the sport allow climbers to successfully prevent major accidents. However, accidents do happen and having the skills and knowledge in order to help an injured climber is the ultimate risk prevention technique.

In this course you will learn how to perform self rescue techniques at a top managed climbing site.  Some typical scenarios might include.

  • You are top belaying and the climber needs help getting through a difficult section
  • You are top belaying and the climber falls on an overhanging section
  • You are top belaying and the climber gets hurt and you need to haul them out
  • Hair stuck in belay device during a rappel/abseil

    Is this course for me?

    This course is for intermediate to advanced climbers who are confident lead climbers that know climbing knots and how to use essential climbing equipment such as the mechanically assisted breaking devices (i.e. GriGri)

    What should I bring?

    Your personal climbing gear if you have it (not required). Athletic Clothing, Closed Toed Shoes and Socks, Refillable Water Bottle, Sunscreen, Bug Spray, Camera, Snacks

    Itinerary

    08.00 - 08.15: Arrive CMRCA and receive equipment
    08.30 - 10.30: Transport to activity site
    10.45 - 12.30: Morning Climbing Session/Lessons
    12.30 - 13.30: Lunch
    13.30 - 16.00: Afternoon Climbing Session/Lessons
    16.00 - 18.00: Return to CMRCA

Safe, highly trained, lead climbing experience

While this group costs more than the competitors group, I was able to observe Gee's technique against the other outfits guides and Gee was much safer and practiced under the Colorado Mountain School (US) standards.
