What is the Community Crank?

Get ready for the annual Community Crank at Progression Vertical Saturday, February 7th! What began as a bouldering competition has grown into a multi-challenge community event for all ages and skill levels. Climb, connect, and support a great cause. Part of the proceeds will go toward funding adaptive climbing in Thailand.

Who Can Join?

We welcome youth and adult participants of all climbing levels, from first-timers to experienced climbers. Whether you are competing in bouldering, testing your endurance on rope ascents, learning rescue systems, or joining adaptive sessions, there is a place for you at the Crank. Spectators and community supporters are also welcome.

What’s in Store for the Crank This Year?

Annual Bouldering Competition

The core of Community Crank returns with creative, challenging routes for a wide range of ages and ability levels. Youth and adult divisions create a supportive environment whether you’re competing seriously or climbing for fun. Register for the Bouldering Competition

SRT Rope Ascending Competition (New)

For the first time at Crank, participants can compete in Static Rope Technique (SRT) ascents that test efficiency, endurance, and rope skills. Register for the SRT Competition

Categories include: 30-meter ascent & 120-meter ascent

Rope Rescue Demonstration & Vertical Obstacle Course

Watch experienced rope professionals demonstrate rescue systems used in real-world vertical environments, then try a skills-based obstacle course that challenges balance, movement, and problem-solving.

Adaptive Climbing Sessions

Inclusive climbing sessions designed for climbers with disabilities. Supported by trained staff and volunteers, these sessions focus on accessibility, empowerment, and community connection.

Gear Swap

Bring your gently used climbing gear and apparel to trade or sell within the community. A great chance to refresh your kit sustainably and connect with other climbers. Register for the Gear Swap 

Film Screening – Climb International with special guest Pi Tex

We are honored to host Pi Tex of Tex Rock Climbing, widely

 recognized as the godfather of rock climbing in Thailand. Following the competitions, there will also be an evening screening of Climb International, a historic climbing film featuring Pi Tex climbing in 1991, offering a rare look at early climbing in the region.

Lucky Draw & Prize Raffle

Multiple raffle rounds throughout the event with climbing gear, vouchers, and prizes. Proceeds support the Adaptive Climbing Program.

Food, Drinks & Community Atmosphere

Local food vendors, drinks, a DJ, and space to relax and connect will be available throughout the day and into the evening.
