Chiang Mai Climbing Community CRANKs! Again

Thanks to everyone who participated in the 3rd Chiang Mai Climbing Community CRANK!  We had a great turnout of aspiring CRANK! Masters, starting with the Kids Competition in the early afternoon.  Over 15 young climbers from around the city put up a strong showing, supported by their participation in the “CMRCA Rockstars” Saturday kids climbing program.

Later on, the older and (debatably) wiser members of the Chiang Mai Climbing Community spent three hours pulling down on 25 brand new routes of all difficulty levels.  Our cheers and laughter drew a crowd, who watched and drank fresh fruit shakes while the climbing community cranked.  Competitors hailed from as far afield as Finland, Germany, the US, Canada, Myanmar, England, Thailand, and Indonesia!  We are happy to report that at the end of the day, after enjoying Yai Kaew’s famous green curry noodles, everyone in the community felt like a Crank Master.

Congratulations to repeat women’s champion Amnuaypond Kidpromma (Nong), and to Uthit Yokhamman (Sorn), who reclaimed the men’s title.

CMRCA would also like to extend a special thanks to our sponsors, all key partners in the Chiang Mai Health/Adventure/Fun Industry: Chiang Mai Mountain Biking, Siam River Adventures, Flight of the Gibbon, Riverside Restaurant and The Salad Concept.  The CRANK! was made possible by hardworking CMRCA Routesetters Surachet Kongsingh (Add), Suradet Kongsingh (Ooan), and Phairat Kaewkan (Muad); event planner extraordinaire Sawitree Sakaew (Pum); prize mistress Nongluck Keudkaew (White); fruit shake manager Somjai Kamthong (Pui); and five-star cook Yai Kaew with her daughter Khaettaleeya Uppakham (Kat).

Stay tuned in late February / early March for the next CRANK!  Climb ON…
